Tasking Manager

OpenSidewalks Fork

This repository is a fork of the tasking manager developed by the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team.

We forked the tasking manager for two reasons:

  1. We wanted to deploy using the provided docker-compose strategy and found it to be non-working. This fork includes patches that make it functional for our purposes, primarily the use of ARG in Dockerfiles so that environment variables can be passed during front end builds and documentation on when to use --env-file (for the same reason).

  2. Most branding and custom descriptions on the home page are currently impossible without editing the codebase - there was no way to remove language specific to the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap team and add language about our use of the tasking manager. Most projects using the tasking manager seem to fork it for this reason.

Docs

Documentation on deploying this tasking manager is found in the OPENSIDEWALKS_SETUP markdown file. This is only partial documentation: we recommended reading the upstream docker setup docs first.

TM Backend on Quay Quality Gate Status

The most popular tool for teams to coordinate mapping on OpenStreetMap.

With this web application an area of interest can be defined and divided up into smaller tasks that can be completed rapidly. It shows which areas need to be mapped and which areas need a review for quality assurance. You can see the tool in action: log into the widely used HOT Tasking Manager and start mapping.

This is Free and Open Source Software. You are welcome to use the code and set up your own instance. The Tasking Manager has been initially designed and built by and for the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, and is nowadays used by many communities and organizations.
