deltathrottle.com domain went down. Why is that? #4
Comments
The domain and hosting appear to have expired. The domain is now being squatted on. Before things went down I was able to pull a static backup of the forum and have published it here: |
Thank you. There was lots of useful information from all the build-logs and
not to mention the research about Hall effect sensor conversion, that I
thought were lost for good.

If you end up trying out the AMS hall effect sensor you can order some of SC-Maik's board design from OshPark here https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/A0DSYSvu |
That's good to know. The work stalled on my aluminium build once the forums
went down. But it's was nearly finished in mechanical function by then. The
only thing left to do was making some new and beefier spring anchors.
My slimmed down spring anchors were too weak (M2 threads) so they were
ripped straight up from their sockets with stripped threads due to the
aluminium I use is of a brittle kind. If I make some new bigger spring
anchors and align the hall effect diametrically magnetized magnets in the
shafts I am ready to go ahead with the hall effect design. I got most of
the parts I need from AMS as product samples.
I am a little surprised the none of the flightstick manufactures contacted
you about making the Delta Throttle. Even the makers of star citizen could
have taken you under their wing and found some oem manufacturer to produce
a limited run of delta throttles that would have sold out fast only within
the star citizen community.
Do you have an plans for the future regarding Delta Throttle? I think the
guy who experimented with a force feedback version is still working on it.
I saw some photostream of it a while ago.
Anyway, I thank you for sharing the plans and ideas with us. Without it I
wouldn't have done so much as I have and wouldn't have had so much fun
along the way as I've had either.

Hey guys, I don't really have any plans for continuing. I don't think
there is much interest from the Star Citizen people in using the design, I
did go as far as sending Ben a message.
Six months or so ago I got a job at Tesla and we are all quite busy trying
to launch a car at the moment and I haven't been maintaining the forums.
There was a huge problem with spam and then the domain expired so I just
cancelled the hosting. To be honest I didn't think anyone was still using
it so my apologies for that.
If there is anything missing from the forum archive I could reactivate
hosting for a month to get a full archive, or maybe there is a better place
to host the forum?

Hey Zack, If you can get an archive of the actual site and database to me I'd be happy to host it. I'll have to put it up on another domain, but I can get it online again in our hosting infrastructure. The archive I grabbed is just a static one I pulled via wget. If I can stand up the full copy I can send an email to valid users and let them know it's back online. I can probably stick it on a subdomain of one of my domains for now. Thanks for all your work, even if there isn't a larger commercial venture for this right now it's still a great hobbyist project! Jeremiah |
I looked at static backup of the forums, and there are more than a handful
of threads missing it seems.
How much is it to reactivate hosting for a month? I'm willing to pay a part
of it if needed.

The site Deltathrottle.com is down and with it a lot of information contained in the forum. Is it temporary or is the project dead for good now?
