Is it possible to move components out of the video-js container ?

I am building a music web app and so far I was just hiding controls and rebuilding them using the video js API. Is it possible to remove a component out of the video player container and place it anywhere in the dom and still remain with its functionality?

For example the play control component? Currently, I don't care about the UI as long as the functionality still works fine.
