How do you display the author name in the blog landing post?

Sorry if this is already somewhere, I couldn't find any info about this!
When scrolling in the "overview page" it only shows the avatar, like so:

Is there a way to also display the author name here?

As described in our documentation, you need to add a .authors.yml in docs/blog/ as following:

authors:
  niclasheinz:
    name: Niclas Heinz
    description: Author
    avatar: https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/1ead7255950b0f5469f171c317a16cd5d5e7a2710b44badb6d4f8604de29887d?s=1600&d=identicon

and then you need to define the metadata of your blog post:

---
date: 2024-12-27
authors:
  - niclasheinz
---

# Your blog post ...

Thanks for the quick reply! I do have this setup but it doesn't do what I want.

To clarify, if you go here

The author is displayed like so:

But when you go to the post itself

It displays the author's name next to the avatar, which is how I want it to look (but without the description)

I believe this is not natively supported by mkdocs-material. As a workaround, you can create a javascript file and copy the following into it:

document.querySelectorAll('.md-profile__description').forEach(element => {
    Array.from(element.childNodes).forEach(node => {
      if (node.nodeType === Node.TEXT_NODE && node.nodeValue.trim() === "Author") {
        node.remove(); // Removes the "Author" text node
      }
    });
  });
  

Then change Author with your description. This Javascript code hides the text ‘Author’. For example:

I want to insert the author name next to the profile picture in the main blog page, so it would look more like this

You can customise the theme of your block. To do this, you can use HTML and CSS to change the design of your block
