Become a sponsor to Open Source Initiative

One of the Open Source Initiative's (OSI) most important activities is serving as a standards body, maintaining the Open Source Definition for the good of the community. The OSI License Review Process and OSI Approved Licenses and trademark programs create a nexus of trust around which developers, users, corporations, and governments can organize open source cooperation.

The OSI is also actively involved in open source community-building, education, and advocacy promoting awareness and the importance of non-proprietary software. The OSI engages internationally to: support open source developers, projects, foundations, and users; promote open source technologies, licenses, and models of development with public and private sector executives; champion software freedom in society, and; prevent abuse of the ideals and ethos inherent to the open source movement.

Individual
You've worked with friends in coffee shops, collaborating around open source projects. Can we join you to support your project?

For the price of one coffee a month ($36/year), the OSI can support a volunteer attending an open source event, staff the OSI booth during a conference, host a web conference on open source licenses and licensing, put a Linux laptop in a student's hand, or pay a staff member for an hour or so.

We want everyone to know we're working together. We'll recognize your support on Twitter via @opensourceorg (if you like), and send you an OSI Keyhole Logo laptop sticker to thank you and share how we're working together to support open source.

Community
If you rely on open source software for the infrastructure that supports your work, collaboration, and community, you rely on open source licenses that guarantee permission to contribute and co-create.

For the annual price of a productivity suite, you can ensure open source and the affordances it provides are available to all. Your $120 support can co-sponsor a local open source meet-up, maintain our community-focused mailing lists for three months, help a start-up understand open source licensing and community norms, or assist a new open source project to grow from an idea, though incubation, to incredible.

To thank you we'll send you an OSI "Our in Source" t-shirt: https://opensource.org/files/OurinSource.jpg

Career
You transitioned from hacker to engineer and open source tools and projects helped pave the way. Open source communities, and the licenses making collaborating around code possible, created opportunities to discover, learn, and grow into the career you have now. We're working to ensure those opportunities continue.

For the price of a professional development course, technology training, or conference pass, the OSI could develop a course on open source community practices, meet with executives to understand the value of an Open Source Programs Office, or host a community event on career development.

We'll recognize your contributions and experience with an OpenSource.net bio to help others find and create open source careers.
