Cannot enable specific features for a single crate in a workspace

Working with Rahix/avr-hal, I cannot enable just a single MCU for a specific crate.

This is my settings.json:

    "atmega328"
  ],
  "rust-analyzer.cargo.noDefaultFeatures": true
}

Regardless of the features selected in config a set of features get selected and then cargo complains about multiple definition of a module.

Rahix suspects that somehow my r-a setup is picking up additional features. How can this problem be troubleshot?
