We have noticed that the install prefix seems not to affect the directory to which is installed, its always the top level one containing the setup script. Bug or feature ? :-D

I confirm that - --prefix has no effect.

I think it is good to have it to give users the flexibility to define the install directory - it also comes from the Autocmake framework that we use.
