Description of issue

I was looking to try and address the failing livecheck for acpica: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-core/blob/HEAD/Formula/a/acpica.rb

What I think I've determined is that the website returns a 403 Access Denied when the default Homebrew user-agent is passed (the -dirty in my user-agent here is from me making a couple puts debugging lines in the brew livecheck code):

I dug around a bit in issues but couldn't find anything – is there any prior art for overriding the user agent so that a web page can be still used for a livecheck? Not sure whether that has been an issue on other websites.
