How can I get the homebrew version of Chicken Scheme to use the homebrew installed sqlite3 when compiling eggs?

I tried to install the sqlite3 egg for chicken scheme, including setting CPPFLAGS`` and LDFLAGS` beforehand, like the sqlite3 Caveats says, but it fails with the following error:

It is obviously picking up the system sqlite3.h instead of the version installed through homebrew.

Any ideas what's going on?

You should probably ask for help on a Chicken Scheme support forum. The instructions in the sqlite caveat are specific to C compilers, and I would imagine other Schemers would've had to solve the same "how to build against non-system libraries" problem before.
