In NCBITaxon, there is no single term for influenza virus, although there are some influenza virus subtype terms.

Hi @yongqunh. This project has always been a direct translation of the NCBI Taxonomy into OWL. We do not add or remove any classes here. And unfortunately I don't know of a any OBO ontology that coordinates additions to the NCBI Taxonomy, although there are scattered examples such as OBI 'organism'.

So I think your options are:

  1. ask NCBI Taxonomy for a new entry -- if they add it, it will get added here
  2. create your own term in an ontology you control

Please ask NCBI and report back here. They have a help link on the site. The taxonomy team have been very helpful in the past.
