NixOS Modules for the minas-tarwon
project.
Modules are arranged in directories corresponding to the option chain they specify. For instance, if
I have a service foo
that I want to offer, and it's enable option is specified as:
config.laurelin.services.bar.foo.enable
Then it would be located in:
services/
bar/
foo/
default.nix
# OR
services/
bar/
foo.nix
Generally preferring the former.
Modules should rely on turnkey for secret management.
All modules are prefixed by laurelin
.
This includes the dns
infra module, which manages creating dns entries and properly configuring
the network interfaces to adhere to the networking standard required by minas-tarwon
.
"Laurelin" is the name of one of the two trees of Valinor in J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium. I
pronounce it "lau-REH-lin", the au
rhymes with loud
, and the r
in REH
is trilled/rolled, I
pronounce it with a slightly French 'r'. I put the emphasis on the second syllable, but I don't
actually know if that's right, it's just been my habit. I justify it by etymology, "Laurelin" is
from "laurë", which means "gold" in Quenya, and the suffix "-lin" which means "song". Quenya has a
trilled 'r', so "laurë" would be pronounced "lau-REH", and the suffix "-lin" would be generally not
be emphasized when pronounced. So, "lau-REH-lin".
