Community Meeting SummaryConference CFP and Volunteer Updates@thulieblack provided an update on the London conference CFP process, noting that she has reached out to previous speakers and is still receiving submissions. She plans to create a short video to provide instructions on how to submit CFPs. @iambami also shared that the volunteer sign-up sheet for the virtual conference in October has about 8 people so far, and they will start creating issues and tasks for the website development. Exploring a Student Ambassador ProgramThe group discussed the idea of expanding the existing community ambassador program to include university and college students. They agreed to review the current ambassador requirements, get input from students, and propose a revised program structure that could accommodate both professional and student ambassadors. The goal is to increase visibility and engagement within educational institutions. Leveraging the Holopin Contributor Badges@thulieblack announced that the community now has a Holopin account to issue contributor badges. She encouraged the group to start thinking about how to best utilize this platform to recognize and reward community contributions, especially from volunteers working at the conference. Postponing the AsyncAPI Mentorship Program@thulieblack shared that the planned AsyncAPI Mentorship Program will be postponed until September to allow more time for planning and coordination with past mentors. This is due to the current summer holiday and the team's focus on GSoC. Upcoming Website Redesign Discussion@Mayaleeeee announced that the next community meeting will include a discussion on the website redesign for the Async API project. She invited all website maintainers, contributors, and designers who are passionate about open source to join the discussion. |
Hey @thulieblack Just a quick heads up - the website redesign proposal discussion will now take place on the 23rd of this month instead of the 9th. It'd be great if you could make this change in the newsletter (you told me to remind you) to keep everyone in the loop. Thanks a bunch! |
