Can a Cron job triggered Automation generate file and attach to email to send?

Motivated by the new ability to have file attachements at mail action at automation I am wondering if the following is possible:

• Have an automation triggered by a cron job.
• At one step Query a table to get results.
• Format these results as json or as an html report list. Maybe manipulate data with a loop to filter out only needed info and make it readable.
• Have a mail action that will send the previously generated data as a mail attachment.
